क्यों चर्चा में? विवाद हाल ही में एनसीईआरटी (NCERT) की नई सामाजिक विज्ञान की पाठ्यपुस्तकों को लेकर है, जिसमें मुगल और दिल्ली सल्तनत काल, टीपू सुल्तान, एंग्लो-मराठा युद्ध आदि को हटाए जाने पर बहस छिड़ गई है।

• आलोचकों का आरोप है कि यह शिक्षा का “सांप्रदायिकीकरण” है और इसमें आरएसएस (RSS) का प्रभाव है।

एनसीईआरटी से जुड़े मुद्दे :

• चयनात्मक ऐतिहासिक प्रस्तुतीकरण का आरोप (कुछ वंशों पर ज़ोर, कुछ को नज़रअंदाज़ करना)।

• सांप्रदायिकीकरण और राजनीतिक हस्तक्षेप के आरोपों को नकारा।
• कहा कि पाठ्यपुस्तक का स्थान सीमित है, इसलिए केवल “सबसे महत्वपूर्ण” विषयों पर ध्यान देना चाहिए।
• माना कि आलोचना हमेशा होगी, लेकिन उद्देश्य बिना पक्षपात के सरलीकरण करना है।
• कहा कि इतिहास से जुड़े विवाद शिक्षा पर हावी नहीं होने चाहिए, बल्कि छात्रों को प्रासंगिक ज्ञान दिया जाना चाहिए।
• उल्लेख किया कि नए चयन राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा नीति 2020 और एनसीएफ 2023 पर आधारित हैं।

सरकार/एनसीईआरटी का पक्ष:

• बदलावों को तर्कसंगत (rationalisation) और पाठ्यचर्या पुनर्गठन प्रक्रिया का हिस्सा बताया, न कि राजनीतिक।
• कहा कि उद्देश्य है दोहराव से बचना, बोझ घटाना और विषयवस्तु को छात्रों के लिए अधिक प्रासंगिक बनाना।

आगे की राह (Way Forward):

• संतुलित प्रस्तुतीकरण: सभी प्रमुख वंशों, घटनाओं और दृष्टिकोणों को पाठ्यपुस्तकों में स्थान मिलना चाहिए।
• चयन में पारदर्शिता: व्यापक अकादमिक परामर्श शामिल किए जाएँ, ताकि राजनीतिक आरोपों से बचा जा सके।
• नियमित संशोधन: सामग्री को समसामयिक और समावेशी बनाए रखने के लिए समय-समय पर संशोधन होना चाहिए।
• छात्र-केंद्रित दृष्टिकोण: केवल रटने की बजाय, छात्रों में आलोचनात्मक सोच (critical thinking) को प्रोत्साहित करना चाहिए।
