Engineers Day in India is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya (M. Visvesvaraya), one of India’s most renowned engineers and visionaries.

Major Contributions:

  • Designed innovative irrigation systems and flood management techniques
  • Developed significant infrastructure projects in India

Served as Dewan of Mysore (1912–1918), modernizing the state through:

His brilliance and service to the nation earned him the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, in 1955.
