About the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA):
- Establishment: Launched by PM Narendra Modi in 2023.
- Status: An inter-governmental international organization headquartered in India.
- Objective: Global cooperation for the conservation of seven big cats:
- Tiger 2. Lion 3. Leopard 4. Snow Leopard 5. Cheetah 6. Jaguar 7. Puma.
- Membership: Open to 95 range countries (countries where these cats are found) and interested observer nations/organizations.
The IBCA Summit 2026: Key Details:
- Date & Venue: June 1st – 2nd, 2026, New Delhi.
- Significance: First-ever global gathering where world leaders convene exclusively to deliberate on big cat conservation across continents.
- Participants: Over 400 stakeholders, including Heads of State, scientists, financial institutions, and community representatives.
