Why in News ? The WAVEX Startup Challenge 2025, launched by the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry, invites startups to develop ‘BhashaSetu,’ an AI-powered multilingual translation solution.
- The hackathon focuses on creating tools for real-time translation, transliteration, and voice localization across at least 12 major Indian languages to promote inclusive and accessible communication.
- There are no minimum eligibility criteria, enabling startups at any stage to participate. The challenge encourages scalable, cost-effective solutions using open-source or low-cost AI models, though proprietary solutions are also welcome if affordable and practical.
- Winners will receive incubation support through the WaveX Accelerator, including mentorship, workspace
- WAVEX Startup Challenge 2025 – BhashaSetu: A national hackathon by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting under the WaveX program, calling startups to build an AI-powered real-time multilingual translation tool. It supports translation, transliteration, and voice localization across at least 12 major Indian languages, aiming for inclusive, scalable, and emotion-aware communication solutions. - Prachi Bhasha Setu – Educational Books: A series of Hindi language textbooks by Prachi (India) Pvt. Ltd. for Classes 1 to 8, authored by Dr. Devendra Sharma and Dr. Anju Sharma. These books enhance grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and critical thinking, with practice papers and self-tests to support students’ language skills and creative expression.
- BhashaSetu Blog (2011): A Hindi literature and poetry blog featuring contributions like poems by JNU students, promoting creative writing in Hindi.
