Al-Falah” (الفلاح) is an Arabic word that literally translates to “success,” “prospering,” or “salvation.”

Literal Meaning:

Al = “The”
Falah = “success,” “prosperity,” “well being,” or “salvation.”
Together, Al-Falah means “The Success” or “The Prosperity.”

Religious and Cultural Context:

In Islamic context, Al-Falah refers to success in this life and the Hereafter — especially successful in living a righteous, meaningful, and spiritually fulfilled life. Al-Falah is mentioned in multiple places in the Qur’an, often in relation to believers who love and apply their faith in prayer and good deeds.
For example: “Qad aflaha al-mu’minoon” (قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ) meaning “Successful indeed are the believers.” (Surah Al-Mu’minun 23:1)
It is also heard in Islamic call to prayer (Adhan):
“Hayya ‘ala al-falah” (حي على الفلاح) meaning “Come to success (or prosperity).”
