The World Hydrogen Summit and Exhibition 2024, the prestigious event of the global green hydrogen ecosystem, is being held in Rotterdam, Netherlands from 13-15 May 2024. 15,000 delegates from across the world are participating in the summit.

World Hydrogen Summit and Exhibition 2024:

• The World Hydrogen Summit and Exhibition is organized by the Sustainable Energy Council in partnership with the Government of the Netherlands, the Province of Zuid-Holland, the City of Rotterdam and the Port of Rotterdam.
• The 2024 World Hydrogen Summit & Expo is the largest global green hydrogen event committed to promoting the use of green hydrogen technology and green hydrogen-based fuels across the world.

 Indian Pavilion in Rotterdam:

• The India Pavilion will highlight the government policy in promoting green hydrogen and various steps taken by the Government of India to promote the use of green hydrogen in India.

National Hydrogen Mission:

• The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had approved the National Hydrogen Mission on January 4, 2022. The Government of India has approved an outlay of Rs 19,744 crore for the mission.
• The National Hydrogen Mission has set the following targets to be achieved by 2030:
• Development of green hydrogen production capacity of at least 5 MMT (million metric tons) per year,
• 125 GW renewable energy capacity addition,
• Investment of more than eight lakh crore rupees,
• Creation of more than six lakh jobs,
• Reducing fossil fuel imports by more than Rs 1 lakh crore,
• To reduce annual greenhouse gas emissions by about 50 MMT.
